Moecams is an application split in two halfs. The first half is the broadcaster, called MoeBroadcaster. This application allows you to broadcast your webcam to our servers.
The MoeViewer is a stand alone application for viewing cams that are online. This feature is split in two for several reasons. The most important is that it takes less resources to run the viewer. After all, we know there are those who are lurkers. Both applications are included in the setup.exe.
This is how it works. You launch the MoeBroadcaster and set your username, rating, category and optionally a description of your cam. Then you select your connection speed and click start. Within a few seconds, your webcam is now online for all Moe users to see. When you launch the viewer, you'll see a list of webcams online along with a description. Simply click on the cam and watch. Depending on the speed they have set, you should see the picture change every few seconds.
You don't need a web server, special account or pay special fees. The way we'll make our money will be by the very small banner advertisement. For the moment, even the banners are free to webmasters.
Similar programs like iCUII and CamerWare cost money. We charge, nothing. Why? We need your input to help develop this application and keep the internet free, the way it should be. Period! |
